Adding a Dash of Magic with Live Wedding Painting in the Southwest UK

Picture this: your wedding day, surrounded by laughter, love, and the clinking of champagne glasses. Now imagine an artist capturing it all on canvas—your special moment, painted live in real time, right in front of you and your guests. Sounds magical, doesn’t it? Well, that’s exactly what I do!

Recently, I had the pleasure of live-painting at a wedding held at the gorgeous Thornbury Golf Centre, near Bristol. Let me tell you - it was an absolute joy from start to finish, and the painting became one of the most unforgettable parts of the day.

The Live Painting Surprise

This wasn’t just any painting. It was a surprise gift from the bride’s daughter, and oh, the emotions! I set up my easel early, got to work, and waited for the moment when the bride spotted me painting. Her face when she realised what was happening -pure magic.

Guests stopped by all day, peeking over my shoulder, asking questions, and watching the painting come to life. By the time I’d finished, the whole wedding party was buzzing with excitement for the big reveal. When I showed the final piece, there was shouts of ‘that’s amazing!’, ‘You’ve got them to a T!’ (and maybe just a little champagne-induced applause!)

The Southwest of England is packed with incredible wedding venues, and let me tell you, it’s an artist’s dream. From the rolling hills of Somerset to the coastal beauty of Devon, the Southwest has everything you need to set the perfect stage for your big day. And venues like Thornbury Golf Centre near Bristol? Utterly stunning. I love weaving the character of these spaces into every painting I create. Thornbury Golf Centre has a beautiful light filled function room over-looking the green, perfectly-kept course. The bride and groom got married in front of a wall of windows and so I couldn’t help but play with shadows to make this piece sing.

Behind the Canvas

So, how does it work? I turn up at your wedding armed with my easel, canvas, and a whole lot of coffee (painting live is not for the faint-hearted!). I spend the day creating your painting while mingling with your guests—it’s part art, part entertainment, and 100% unforgettable.

By the end of the day, you’ll have a finished looking painting that looks ready to take home. But I’ll add final touches back at my studio (because perfection takes time). Once the painting is complete the couple choose to pick it up from my studio and put out pride of place in their living room.
